Lisa Loeb Eyewear!

Back in the 90’s Lisa Loeb had a hit single “Stay”.  Ever since I saw that music video, I’ve envied her eyewear.

Now, Classique Eyewear and Lisa Loeb have paired to make an eyewear line designed with the classic “Cat Eyes” style that Lisa is known for.

Senior Editor of Vision Monday, Deirdre Carroll writes…

Classique Eyewear unveils the Lisa Loeb Eyewear Collection, inspired by Grammy-nominated signer/songwriter LIsa Loeb’s signature cat-eyes glasses.

“People have been asking me about my glasses for years.  Finally, I decided that I should design my own line of eyewear,” said Loeb.  ”My eyewear generally has a cat-eyed look.  Think sexy librarian, not retro grandma.  When designing the glasses, i felt strongly about giving the frames the upward sweep often found in classic cat-eyed frames.”

The initial collection features 13 ophthalmic styles in up to four color variations each.  The styles include classics in black and tortoise, as well as embellished temples accentuated with rhinestones and etchings.  Each frame is named after one of Loeb’s songs with colors ranging from neautral tones to bursts of turquoise, lavender, lemon ice and cherry red.

According to Craig Glasser, Classique Eyewear CEO, “As soon as we announced our partnership with Lisa, Classique Euewear’s website has been inudated with thousands of requests for Lisa Loeb Eyewear.”

html love

I once took a course on computers specifically for the ONE WEEK we would spend on HTML coding.

The fact that I can use that to morph my tumblr page makes me immensely happy!  ^.^

Why you should always encrypt your smartphone | ArsTechnica → arstechnica.com

vb:

A great article from ArsTechnica as to the legal issues surrounding mobile phones which are often a trove of information that can incriminate you.

Not that I’m a criminal, far from it, but I do like to know what my rights are given a situation as I do believe that from time to time the police do abuse their power.

Of particular note about simply having a passcode lock on your phone (whether it actually encrypts your phone or not):

While the search incident to arrest exception gives police free rein to search and seize mobile phones found on arrestees’ persons, police generally cannot lawfully compel suspects to disclose or enter their mobile phone passwords. That’s because the Fifth Amendment’s protection against self-incrimination bars the government from compelling an individual to divulge any information or engage in any action considered to be “testimonial”—that is, predicated on potentially incriminating knowledge contained solely within the suspect’s mind.

Individuals can be forced to make an incriminating testimonial communication only when there is no possibility that it will be used against them (such as when prosecutors have granted them immunity) or when the incriminating nature of the information sought is a foregone conclusion. (For more on this subject, see thisinformative article forthcoming in the Iowa Law Review, also by Professor Gershowitz, which explores in great depth the uncharted legal territory surrounding password-protected mobile phones seized incident to arrest.)

As such, if you are arrested or detained by a law enforcement officer, you cannot lawfully be compelled to tell the officer anything other than your basic identifying information—even if the officer has not read you the Miranda warning. Exercising your right to remain silent cannot be held against you in a court of law, nor can it be used to establish probable cause for a search warrant.

However, if you voluntarily disclose or enter your mobile phone password in response to police interrogation, any evidence of illegal activity found on (or by way of) your phone is admissible in court, regardless of whether or not you’ve been Mirandized.

Five-second rule → en.wikipedia.org

I love that wikipedia has the Five-Second Rule listed!!!

bestofwikipedia:

The five-second rule is a popular fiction regarding the eating of various objects that have fallen to the floor or ground. The origin of the rule was founded by a popular scientist during the 20th century named Andy Hemmer. The substance of the rule is that if food falls on the ground, it may be safely eaten as long as it is picked up within five seconds. (via werttrew)

Adam's 31st Birthday (12.21.10)

All of our friends know to expect a wonderful night of good food, good people paired with good conversation, and fancy dress every year on December 21st.  This year was no different.

Adam received many calls, texts, emails, facebook posts, etc asking where he was hosting his birthday.  We fell a bit behind in the coordinating of the celebration, and on the evening of Thursday, December 16th, we were down to the wire.

Mangiamo!, a Gilmore Collection restaurant, was very gracious and was not only able to provide us with an intimate location for the 20-some guests, but also was able to provide a wonderful menu and excellent bartender/waitress for the evening.

We were also graced with the Grand Rapids Social Diary in attendance!  Tim Montly, came wielding his camera and made sure to get photos of every guest.

We thank everyone who was able to attend and make this another memorable birthday celebration for Adam.

More photos are under the cut.

“Anyone who thinks books are sterile objects hasn’t really drawn breath in a library. The older volumes are autumnal, evocative of smoke and decayed leaves. The newer ones smell like glue and vanilla and import. Books have a sound too - turn their pages for enough hours and years and you start to rely on it, just as people who live by the shore assimilate the rhythm of the waves: the sweep and ripple marking the end of a page, a sound that seems to be made by the turning of your thoughts rather than the movement of your had.” —

R. Kadish, “Tolstoy Lied”

Upward Over the Mountain

I am testing tumblr as a new blog for myself as well as a possible social media site for my office, innereactive media, llc.

For myself:
I had a livejournal since June 16th, 2003 (since I was 16).  I haven’t posted in a long while, and I’m a bit tired of the livejournal set up.  I think I might enjoy tumblr more as it is more like a social media site.  More interaction can be had.

For innereactive:
Because we are a marketing firm, it is important to reach our target market as well as inform the companies we work with how to reach theirs.  We also must practice what we preach.  So it is time to up the social media networking!  …and apparently, I’m the one that tackles the social media pages.

So let’s get this journey started!
